Where do we visit during the Mystic Beauty Retreat:
-JAIPUR-
An architectural jewel, Jaipur is the jewel box of India, holding some of the most exquisite artistic and cultural traditions of South Asia. Home to a thriving royal dynasty, Jaipur invites us to be filled with awe and wonder as we soak in the beauty of each threshold, palaces in the most vibrant colours, and textiles of unparalleled richness. Named ‘The Pink City’ we will enjoy the gorgeous temples to Ganesha, Hanuman, Krishna, and others, as well as a mysterious Tantric Goddess who was the token deity of Jaipur’s most famous King.
-KATHMANDU-
Travelling on to the mystical city of Kathmandu, Nepal, we will explore the cultural and spiritual landscape of this city steeped in mystical unravelling. The Newari people of the sacred valley believe they are descended from the Nagas, cobra spirits that are the guardians of the Tantric Buddhist and Hindu sacred sights held within the boundaries of the great Himalayas. During our time in Kathmandu we will explore temples from both traditions, taking in stunning architecture, shopping for incredible crafts, and experiencing the charm of the international centre for mountaineering of the world's greatest peaks.
-OPTIONAL TAJ MAHAL ADD-ON-
We are offering an add-on pre retreat to travel from Delhi to Agra, where we will take in the magnificent and iconic Taj Mahal. Built during the Mogul Empire by Shah Jahan as a monument to honor his beloved wife, Mumtaz, the Taj is a wonder of the world that will take your breath away. In the words of South Asian poet Rabindranath Tagore “The Taj Mahal rises above the banks of the Yamuna river like a solitary tear suspended on the cheek of time.” We will travel from Agra to Jaipur directly the following morning, to meet up with the rest of the group.
